Scandinavia and the World is a Danish comedy webcomic created by Humon. The comic started out solely on DeviantArt, but it now has an official website,, where all new comics are posted first (they are posted on DeviantArt after the next comic has been released) and old comics are archived.

The series features "country spirits," anthropomorphic personifications of various countries who exhibit the stereotypical appearance and behavior of that country's people (from the point of view of Scandinavia), and wear clothing (usually a shirt) colored like the national flag. The comics are used to spoof said stereotypes, as well as various historical and current events, through the interactions of the characters. As the comic's title suggests, the three Scandinavian countries--Denmark, Sweden, and Norway--are the central characters, with the other two Nordic countries (Finland and Iceland) and America showing up fairly frequently, and a growing supporting cast.

History[edit | edit source]

On the 29th of June 2009, Humon uploaded the first-ever SatW image onto DeviantArt. Entitled 'Sweden Denmark and Norway', it was made to comically show how 'Sweden Denmark and Norway...see each other and [them]selves'. This is the first appearance of the SatW characters Sweden, Denmark and Norway (albeit prototypes), and is the single picture that the entire comic spawned from.

The webcomic has gone from strength to strength over the years and has been Humon's most successful creation. She can be found representing the comic at various comic-cons around Europe, and SatW merchandise can be bought online, in some shops, or at comic-cons Humon attends. The comic recently spawned it's first printed book, which was about the British Isles.
